We can't end wars but

we can save the heart of a child

CARDIAC SURGERY

The Heart Fund provides open-heart surgery for children in their country of origin

OPEN HEART

REPARING

A HEART

Teams of experts in congenital heart surgery treat heart malformations by re-establishing the heart's normal anatomy; this enables the child to grow, go to school and find a place in society.

This human, social and economic investment is key to The Heart Fund approach.

This type of operation requires stopping the heart while maintaining the blood supply to body organs; this is done using equipment that enables circulating and oxygenating blood throughout the body and is known as extracorporeal circulation.

THERAPEUTIC SOLUTION

The Heart Fund operates on children weighing just a few pounds to adolescents and offers a durable therapeutic solution to children who do not have access to care.

There are some twenty different congenital cardiopathies. Sometimes they combine to form complex congenital cardiopathies that can only be treated surgically for definitive results.

SPECIALIZED TEAM

Heart surgery requires the collaboration of highly specialized teams and advanced equipment. Most low-income countries do not have the necessary technical installation, equipment and surgical teams.

The Heart Fund organizes and deploys the human and technical resources needed for the development of programs in congenital heart surgery.

PUBLIC HEALTH

By operating on a child with a cardiopathy, The Heart Fund contributes to lowering the infant mortality rate in developing countries. This is part of the public health policy of the World Health Organization's combat against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Curing children of a heart disease means ensuring their future, helping their entire family and having an impact on the community.
