In April 2012, The Heart Fund and its first Ambassador, the actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, organized a mission to provide support for children with heart diseases. As of today, The Heart Fund has enabled open-heart surgery on 14 children, the screening of 50 children and the communication of preventive information to 100 school children.
A better understanding of the local healthcare environment enabled defining a strategy based on the prevention and screening of heart diseases for a large part of the population. Long-term cooperation with local communities, medical institutions and the government is envisaged.
