DETECT &

DIAGNOSE

The Heart Fund goes to people in the field and offers them the possibility of screening.

Screening consists in detecting the signs that correspond to a cardiopathy. It allows making a diagnosis, limiting complications, implementing a treatment and preventing disabilities and premature deaths. Detecting cardiopathies in children can be done before birth, after birth and even during childhood and adolescence.

FETAL
CARDIOPATHIE

Ten of every thousand fetuses are afflicted with a congenital cardiopathy. Screening with a morphological antenatal sonogram made by a pediatric cardiologist enables preparing the birth and taking charge of the baby as soon as possible to prevent a decompensation at birth.Fetal cardiology enables early detection of malformation and improved care.

CONGENITAL
HEART DISEASE

A cardiopathy can be diagnosed at birth by the presence of a heart murmur upon auscultation, cyanosis or a blue tinge to skin. But nearly a fourth of congenital cardiopathies are diagnosed only months or years later.

RHEUMATIC
HEART DISEASE

Screening for acute articular rheumatism following an untreated streptococcal throat infection prevents rheumatic heart disease and death from cardiac insufficiency. It is especially frequent in children from five to fifteen in developing countries.
