REPAIRING WITHOUT SCARS

Interventional catheterization is a minimally invasive exploratory and therapeutic method that allows treating cardiac malformations without using surgery.

It consists in inserting a catheter in an artery or vein in the armpit area or arm and guiding it to the heart, where a prosthesis, stent or balloon is deployed. Using catheters, The Heart Fund is able to treat cardiopathies with hospital stays of 24 hours, optimized costs and low complication rates.

TECHNOLOGICAL EVOLUTION

From dilation of pulmonary, mitral and aortic valves stenosis using a balloon through angioplasty, to dilatation of coarctation to Patent Ductus Arteriosus closing using coils or closing ASD or VSD using prosthesis; interventional catheterization is an essential and appropriate solution to the pathologies in developing countries.

ADVANCED TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT

A HEALTH SOLUTION

Cardiac catheterization requires only a single one-millimeter puncture to insert a guide that will reach the heart. This procedure is possible thanks to complex medical equipment that couples vascular imaging with the surgical environment.

In light of the high rate of congenital heart diseases in developing countries, interventional catheterization contributes in an effective and economic way to early treatment of disease and a decrease in complications and infantile mortality.
